Hillier Ignite remembers the day America stood in shock 12 years ago. On this day of remembrance, it’s good to look at what we can do to contribute to the world. There are several organizations doing good work on behalf of the victims and survivors of 9/11, here are two in particular:
9/11 Day is a movement to recognize the day as one of charity and good deeds, reminding people of the “importance of working more closely together in peace to improve our world.” Follow them on Facebook or Twitter and join in the service movement.
Heart 9/11 is non-governmental volunteer disaster response and relief organization focusing on three factors of response and relief: emergency response to disaster stricken communities, facilitation of mental health and build housing for wounded returning veterans. The volunteers number over 530 and consist of FDNY, NYPD, PAPD, NYC Building Trade Members and surviving family members of those killed on September 11, 2001. You can register to become a volunteer or donate money to the organization specifically for gloves, coats, boots, a respirator, lighting, or a generator.
